This is going to be a new feature that will come up every now and again; every time that I have pre-orders waiting to arrive in fact!  This month I have just a couple and I’d like to share with you why I decided to pre-order them and why I can’t wait for them to be delivered!

1. Firefight by Brandon Sanderson.  This will be the second in The Reckoners series and I really don’t know if I will be able to wait until January 2015 for this one to be released! I enjoyed the first book; Steelheart thoroughly and hope to post a review very soon. If you’ve been getting into the spate of superhero films that have been showing at the cinemas over the past few years, or even if you’re tired of them and want something a little bit different then this series is for you.

It offers a unique perspective on the superhero, or Epics, as Sanderson calls them and a new idea about what a human would do when suddenly presented with strange and powerful abilities. In the world after Calamity came those with super powers are not heroes.  Follow David and his team, The Reckoners, as they fight a battle against some of the most powerful Epics in America.  If you’ve not read Steelheart do it; you have plenty of time before it’s sequel goes on sale!

2. Land by Alex Campbell.  This one comes out next Thursday and I’m really looking forward to it. Have any of you watched Sanne’s videos over at Books and Quills? Well, I came across this book via her YouTube channel. I can’t remember if she’s reviewed it or if it’s on the website for the publishers that she works for but anyway, it sounded interesting so I thought I’d give it a try.

The premise is that water has swallowed the earth and now a small community lives behind a great sea wall in a surviving civilization known as Land bound by strict rules. Marriage, work and children are all approved or appointed and at the age of sixty-six, you’re carted away to make room for more.  We follow the main character Christy as she reaches her sixteenth birthday, prepares for a Pairing and discovers things about life on Land, her rebel father, and the assassin that she was raised to become.

Day 213. Day 21 by Kass Morgan. Have you been watching the TV series The 100 on E4? I was really looking forward to it starting so when I found out that it was a book I thought I ought to read it before the series started. For a book in which not an awful lot happens, it was really enjoyable but completely different to the TV series. In fact, there are so many differences between the book and the series that I had to stop watching it.

Day 21 is the second book in The 100 series, it chronicles the experiences of 100 teenage criminals, 21 days after they have landed on Earth some centuries after humans were forced to leave due to nuclear warfare.  If you haven’t read the first then grab it before this one comes out in September.

And that’s it for this month’s pre-orders! I’m really looking forward to reading each of these and will update you all with reviews when I can! In the mean time, comment below to leave your thoughts on any of the books above or their prequels and to tell me what books you can’t wait for this month!
